We spend billions to educate people that we do not need to care for them throughout their life. Something broke in the system that allows many individuals in order to wait for a kind of free public service. For the 40, 000,000 who have no health insurance it could be a good idea to stop having children you can not pay. Eat better Food and fire and smoke drugs and alcohol. It would be nice if I could sit on a porch, paid by the government, smoke crack and first to fifth of each month and drink cheap beer / malt liquor and wine while watching the world go by while I wait on Oprah / Dr. Phil show to come on. How simplistic and without pity. Many of these people work very hard to paying jobs. You can criticize all you want but this is not correct the situation. More and more Americans have fallen into poverty in recent years, for any reason. Your assumption that they are lazy is simply wrong. They may related skills and abilities, but that is a fact of life in any society. Hard work guarantees you nothing, not even a wage. Some people will be able to improve their situation and others not. Looking at the situation realistically, our choices are either ignoring the fate of millions of Americans or try to address constructively. Your choice is strange is to criticize and bash one the most helpless segments of our population. You focus on perpetrators and ignore those who do not abuse, work hard and still nothing. Of course, punish the aggressors, but that is not going to address the big issues that are complex, difficult and require a vision and imagination. I prefer see my taxes going to help Americans other than going to the company's well-being for the rich corporations or wasted the invasion of sovereign nations to create chaos and helps the spread of terrorism. In fact, in a given society, there will always be people who are doing very well and some people who are not so well. The question is how we as a society to treat those who do not go well.
