What will be my permanent height? When do women stop growing?

I’m 14, and I’m about 5′4 or 5′5. I’m not sure. I have an uncle who is 6′2. My dad is 5′10 and a half. He’s supposed to be really tall but he kind of stopped growing when he drank and smoked during his teenage years. My uncles and aunt on my father’s side are fairly tall. I have Spanish, Chinese, and Filipino blood in me. My mom is 5′4, I am now taller than her but that’s because she started drinking and smoking when she was about 11 or 12 years old. Drinking and smoking can greatly affect your height. The fact is proven.

I want to have a permanent height of 5′9. Do you think I still have the chance to reach it? I don’t drink nor smoke. What can I do to grow taller? What’s the tallest and shortest height I can be?
Oh and my brother is 6′ flat.

I heard that one of the biggest factors (other than genes) to affect your final height is how well you grow through the first year of life: there was this study where identical twins were measured throughout their growing years and when one was poorly duing the first year and did not grow to their full potential (genetically predisposed) height, they never ever caught up again. I understand that keeping fit and healthy throught out the growing years can help you reach your fullest possible height, hence your parents may not be as tall as they might have got. So I’d suggest you can’t do much more than eat good wholesome food with lots of fresh fruit and veg and a good mix of fibre, carbs and protein without too much fat, salt or sugar; do a little regular exercise; keep off the cigarettes and alcohol. You can have no way of telling when you will have growth spurts: I went to school with a girl who was exactly same height as me age 9, then I outgrew her and was much taller for most of the teens until she suddenly shot up after age 16 and was then finally several inches taller than me! You could ask your parents if you did well in the first year of your life – I was a sickly baby, and while my brothers, nephew and dad are all over 6′ and my mum and sister over 5′7″ I never got much more than 5′5″ in the end.
